I follow a great blog called My Favorite Things. This is an awesome blog filled with some extremely talented women. Every week they have a something called a sketch challenge. What this is they give you a basic sketch of a card layout and you make a card inspired by that sketch.
Here is the sketch challenge for this week:
A nice and simple challenge right? I thought so. I was actually inspired to make two different cards.
The first one is closer to the challenge. First I decided to use one of my embossing folders to stamp the background. I have the Heart background by Darice. I used Tim Holtz mini distressed inks Scattered Straw, Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, and Evergreen Bough. I cut out a heart with my Darice Nesting Hearts die using the largest die. The heart is stamped with the sentiment from Hero Arts. The smaller hearts are from Recollections and Hero Arts.
The second one is more of an interpretation. I again used my Darice Nesting Heart Dies. The four biggest. I distress inked them in my Tim Holtz mini distressed inks. Same colors as the previous card. (They are the only colors of distress inks I have so far.) I just layered the hearts. I think it makes for a very nice effect. I added some simple embellishments from Recollections. The sentiment is from Art-C.
I really enjoyed making both of these cards. How do you think I did with the challenge? The husband doesn’t think I did it. Tell me what you think.
Thanks for reading today.
I buy most of my stuff at my local Michaels.
